Wearable Vibrators for Couples are Now a Thing

As you may know if you have a sex drive, lots of vibrators suck. They are often expensive, loud, poorly made, and die way too quickly. Well, two women are setting out to change all that.

The New York Times reports on Dame Products, a company started by Janet Lieberman and Alexandra Fine, ladies on a mission to create a better sex toy experience for both men and women.

“I had always bought cheap vibrators and my bedside drawer was a graveyard for them,” said Lieberman, a MIT grad who lives in Brooklyn, said. “You could replace the batteries but they still would stop working.”

After one particularly annoying birthday experience, Lieberman and Fine teamed up to make something new.

The duo went to work creating dozens of prototypes, and finally settled on the design of an egg-shaped vibrator made of medical-grade silicone. It nestles into your vagina with the help of two wings, and is operated hands-free, so as not to interrupt your ~sexual~ flow. (They really want couples to be able to use it together, that's why it was crucial that it stay put on its own.)

And it must be working. They've sold over 65,000 units of the vibrator, named Eva, at $105 each.

Of course, it should be noted that there are other items on the market doing similar things — We-Vibe's Sync is actually flexible so you can basically custom fit it to your vagina shape! Very rad! — but it's cool to know that women- and couple-focused vibrators are starting to make a splash. (Gross pun absolutely intended.)
